when the apple-- fiona-- grows back on the tree, whatever the name of the album may be, i'll buy what she selling without any regrets, 'cause it's my brand of crazy that she really gets.

She's back.

The new album is titled The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do.

Which is the logical progression from 1999's When the pawn hits the conflicts he thinks like a king What he knows throws the blows when he goes to the fight And he'll win the whole thing 'fore he enters the ring There's no body to batter when your mind is your might So when you go solo, you hold your own hand And remember that depth is the greatest of heights And if you know where you stand, then you know where to land And if you fall it won't matter, cause you'll know that you're right.

I WAS going to celebrate by posting a photo etched in my memory: a midriff-baring Fiona smiling awkwardly with Hanson, as published in a 1998 issue of literary titan Teen People. Now I can't find it anywhere on the internet.

This picture used to make me insanely jealous. Of Hanson? Of Fiona? Shh.. I'll never tell.
